In 2006, The Pavlov Media center in Gronignen, NL curated the week long City on the Roof Festival. The goal was to create artworks that opened the conversation about the viability of rooftops as usable spaces in urban centers. The Media center brought together artists and architects from all over the world for a 3 month long think tank.
I created a vertical zoetrope by placing a 200m print on the outside of a glass elevator. The design from the print was created using abstractions of the view from the top of the Regentes building where it was installed. Once on the roof viewers were able to create musical compositions with a series of interactive sculptures that remixed sounds from the cities landscape. I wanted viewers to see the city as a mutable natural space.
